Sheenu Goel, DDS Bio

During her time spent practicing as a general dentist, Dr. Goel realized that her passion was in root canals. In performing these treatments, she could quickly make patients feel better and see results. To her, each root canal procedure could be so complex and challenging, yet also exciting and rewarding.

Dr. Sheenu Goel grew up in the state of Ohio and attended Ohio State University for her undergraduate education. She then went on to the prestigious Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City, where she acquired her degree in general dentistry. After dental school, Dr. Goel did a general practice dentistry residency at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Afterward, she practiced as a general dentist for three years before pursuing her specialty in endodontics.

After private practice, Dr. Goel returned to Columbia College of Dental Medicine to pursue her specialty training in endodontics. At Columbia, Dr. Goel has an extensive education in didactic and clinical courses, and she enjoyed teaching endodontics to the undergraduate dental students. She prides herself on working hard to be a clinician who not only provides excellent care inĀ root canals,Ā retreatments, and root-end surgeries but also one who uses her knowledge from general practice to help patients make sound decisions about their treatments. Through her vast clinical training at an Ivy League institution, Dr. Goel can help the most fearful patients feel at ease and relieved.

Dr. Goel provides endodontic treatment in both of ourĀ BeavercreekĀ andĀ West ChesterĀ offices.

Dr. Sheenu Goel finds joy in giving back to those in need in her community. Dr. Goel was elected to the Dayton Childrenā€™sā€™ Hospital Womenā€™s Board recently. This highly coveted organization is one where many women in the community may apply, but only a few are chosen. Dr. Goel loves fundraising, working diligently and alongside other women in the Dayton area whoā€™s goal is to contribute their time and efforts in helping Dayton Childrenā€™s Hospital succeed.

During her free time, Dr. Goel enjoys spending time with her husband and beautiful, smart, spunky daughter. She also loves to travel the world, cook, dance, and exercise.

Dr. Goel looks forward to meeting her patients and providing them with pain relief with the highest level of care and attention.

How to ease dental phobia and needle fears

Being nervous or afraid to visit the dentist is very common ā€“ in fact, itā€™s so common thereā€™s a name for it: dentophobia. This type of phobia can range from mild to severe, and can cause shortness of breath, elevated heart rate and blood pressure, and other signs of anxiety, such as shaking or a sense of impending doom.

Causes of dental phobia and how to help your patients

Up to eight percent of Americans avoid seeing the dentist because of anxiety and fear. Although not all of those cases would be classified as dental phobia, a fear of the dentist is a very common issue that can lead to some very serious oral health problems. Letā€™s examine some of the causes of dental phobia, and what you can do to help your patients address it.
