Dr. Kathryn Epkey’s drive to open her practice was focused on her passion for serving her hometown community. Her faith, character, values, and caring personality help optimize the service to her patients. With a history in dentistry, her family has been serving the Mid-Ohio Valley for over 75 years.
In 2009, Dr. Epkey volunteered as a dental assistant at the Mission of Mercy dental clinic in Parkersburg. This was the first time she saw the great need for oral health care in the Mid Ohio Valley. This was the moment Dr. Epkey wanted to be a dentist. She was particularly intrigued by helping patients feel at ease and getting them out of pain.
Dr. Epkey received a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Spanish from Clemson University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 2009. She was also a member of the women's tennis program which won the ACC Championship her senior year.
Dr. Epkey earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from West Virginia University in 2015. Upon graduation, she received the Endodontic Student Achievement Award and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dental Student Award.
Dr. Epkey completed her General Practice Residency in Bronx, New York at Jacobi Medical Center Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2016. During her time in New York, she gained experience in hospital dentistry and treating patients with complicated medical histories.
Dr. Epkey completed her specialty training in Endodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry, where she also earned her Masters of Science in Dentistry in 2018. Dr. Epkey is currently Board Eligible with the American Board of Endodontics and anticipates completing the extensive board certification process within the next two years.
In 2018, Dr. Epkey opened her practice in her hometown of Vienna, West Virginia.
