Restorative dentistry is the terminology that is used by dental professionals when they are replacing teeth that are damaged or even missing. Restorative dentistry procedures are important because they fill in empty spaces in your mouth which helps keep your teeth aligned properly. Another point of importance is because it replaces teeth which makes it easier to maintain good oral care habits and it also aids in preventing the buildup of plaque and stops the issues that come with there being more plaque. Lastly, restorative dentistry can help with appearance, health, and self-esteem.

Restorative dentistry has many different treatment options and there are a lot of things that fall under the “umbrella” for which would be considered restorative dentistry. Some of these treatment options include: crowns, bridges, and dental implants.

Once you have received restorative dentistry there are some things you should make sure you are doing to ensure you are taking care of the restorative dentistry work that you have had done.

  1. You want to make sure you are thoroughly brushing your teeth twice daily.
  2. Consider using an electric toothbrush. They are known to help remove plaque and are good in doing so on your teeth as well as the restorative work you’ve had done.
  3. Be sure to floss very well. Make sure you do so thoroughly every single day.
  4. Try to avoid sticky or hard foods. It can bring damage to your restorative dentistry.
  5. Use an antibacterial mouthwash every day. This will help in fighting off plaque and other bacteria that will be around your restorative work.
