Dr. Supriya Koirala was born and raised in Nepal. Though Dr. Koirala grew up in Nepal, she spent many of her formative years in Thailand, her mother’s country of origin.
Dr. Koirala completed her Undergraduate and Masters in Sociology from the University of Colorado. Thereafter while working in the non-profit sector, Dr. Koirala worked alongside dentists who provided treatment on a pro bono basis to individuals in underserved communities. Observing the immediate and positive impact their work had on the patients, Dr. Koirala made the decision to pursue dentistry as a long-term career.
Dr. Koirala obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. After completing dental school, Dr. Koirala completed a 2-year post-doctorate program in Pediatric Dentistry from NYU Langone Hospital at their Hawaii site. During her residency, Dr. Koirala was able to work with children and adolescents in underserved communities across Hawaii, mainly Oahu, Maui, Big Island, and Lanai. The challenge and satisfaction of positively impacting the oral health of children and young adolescents left an indelible stamp and she is excited about continuing to pursue her passion.
Dr. Koirala and her husband spend their spare time traveling and exploring the world, particularly South-East Asia. She is also an enthusiastic salsa dancer and food aficionado, willing to try almost anything!
