Dr. Akhras was raised in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago.
Being the eldest of seven children gave him lots of responsibility in the family
at an early age. For his undergraduate studies, he chose to attend Northeastern Illinois University, where he graduated honors with distinction. He then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago to obtain his dental degree, where he conducted research on dental wound healing, and completed an externship rotation treating pediatric patients in underserved areas. His ambition for education led him to complete an elective General Practice Residency at the prestigious Hackensack University Medical Center, just outside New York City. After working with successful Dental Service Organizations in Dallas, Texas, he chose to return home to Chicago and open his first dental practice with Dr Salamah. Dr. Akhras is committed to providing the latest dental care that fits each patient’s needs. This led him to become active with a diverse group of institutes where he has completed hundreds of continuing education hours of post-doctoral studies on a range of disciplines including orthodontics and dental implants. He truly believes that success in dentistry is a team approach, based on patient communication and expectations. He takes pride in treating patients of all ages, and makes it a goal to make every patient smile.
When away from managing the office, Dr. Akhras enjoys spending quality time with his family, and getting involved with community and outreach events.
