Well, going to the dentist can be scary for adults. So imagine how kids feel when facing injections and all the things that go buzz in the dentist’s office. Today, we have Dr. Stephen Goldberg, inventor of DentalVibe and we’ve got some tips and tools kind of help make it less painful for both adults and kids. So DentalVibe, tell me what it is
DentalVibe. First of all, the main thing about dentistry is that a lot of people have a fear of going to the dentist. Actually, certain research that was done at the dental fears clinic in Seattle, Washington talks about 40 million Americans are afraid to go to the dentist. And what they’re really afraid of is the fear of pain. That’s the number one fear. But if you really think about it, dentistry doesn’t hurt. It really doesn’t. The injection hurts. The once should be on that. The rest of it is painless. Exactly. So this is really what people are afraid of is the dreaded dental injection. But this is the scary part.
So this provides the distraction,
Right? So, well, what I actually did was I invented something called DentalVibe. It’s a vibrating device that a dentist uses on a patient, whether it’s an adult or a child, they simply turn it on, have a little buzzing sound. It’s vibrating at the end here, what you do is to place that in the mouth. I’ll turn off. So we get rid of the sound, but you place this in the mouth then comes along the injection. And then you administer the injection, the vibration travels faster to the brain than the sensation of pain does so they can’t feel the shot. It’s absolutely incredible.
I have to say, I watched a couple of videos this morning of children in this tool being used on the kids. Some of the kids didn’t even know that they had a shot. They were like, no,
Right, exactly. There are actually thousands of doctors around this country and somewhere around the world that are using this now. For children, it’s amazing. They really do not even know that they got a shot. What we have for kids as well, all these little toys, they’ll pick out a little toy from a treasure chest. And what they do, I want to show you here is actually slip onto the back end of the unit here. So they pick out a toy thats becoming part of the process and something we call, Tell Show Do. You tell them what we’re going to do? We show them the device. We turn on you buzz the back of their hand. They get to hold it for a moment. Then you place it in their mouth and they’re staring at the toy while you’re giving them the injection. They’re really distracted from looking at the injection.
I love it. They’re distracted. And you’re blocking the pain in your make it all-around better.
Never feeling anything. Then they get to keep the toy, they go home with, it’s a giveaway to them.
All right. So for people listening right now and they, they would like to have a little distraction when they’re getting their teeth done. Uh, how can they find out if their dentist has it DentalVibe?
They would do is simply go to DentalVibe.com, go to the website and we have a locator there, but you put in your zip code and you can see what dentists in your area have it. And then if your dentist doesn’t have it, there’s a button there to recommend your dentist get it.
All right. Very nice. Thank you so much, Dr. Goldberg, great invention, great ideas for more information on DentalVibe, like we said, you can go to DentalVibe.com. You can also call eight seven, seven, five Oh three five extension one, one, four, Trina.
